WELCOME TO GOD’S FAMILY
You have just become a child of God! “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12). God has also given you His Holy Spirit which guides us in our understanding of Him. “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.” (1 Corinthians 2:12).
To help you get started in your new relationship with God, we have some helpful suggestions.
Read God’s Word daily - this is how we come to know Him better, and grow in our faith in Him. It is a good idea to start by reading the Gospel of John, which is the fourth book in the New Testament.
Pray to God everyday - He desires to have a personal relationship with us. We develop this relationship through the reading of His Word, and through prayer.
Find a local Christian church that teaches the Word of God. It is very important to be involved in a fellowship with other believers. This is another way in which our faith will grow. Ask God to lead you to a church where the Bible is taught and studied, and where Jesus’ name is glorified.
Don't rely on feelings for your assurance that God is with you. Sometimes people will speak of the “emotional experience” they had after receiving Jesus into their lives. Although this can be a valid claim, it is certainly not a requirement. It is the faith in God's promises, not our emotions, that gives us our confidence before Him.
Tell someone about your new commitment to Jesus. It’s important that we not be ashamed of our relationship with Christ.
We would love to hear from you, and would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
See you in Heaven!
